Students begin the week learning theater basics and by the end of the first day, will have brainstormed and determined their project for the week. Some kids might create short films while some might produce commercials or music videos. The important thing is that the kids provide the idea!
Parents will be invited to an end-of-week showcase/screening.

musical theater CAMP
With Beth Swindell
July 15 - 19
For Musical Theatre Camp we will spend time working on each of the three aspects of musical theatre: acting, singing, and dancing. We'll spend time rehearsing fun scenes, learning songs from Broadway shows, and working on some neat musical theatre style dances. Camp will be a great mix of having fun and developing performance skills. Benefits of doing a summer theatre camp include positive interaction with others, working on public speaking skills, teamwork, and building confidence.
Beth Swindell has been a member of the Wilmington theatre community for almost 15 years. She has a strong musical background and has acted in roles such as "Joanne" in Rent, "Judy" in Nine to Five the Musical, "Patti" in Smokey Joe's Cafe, "Darlene" in The Diviners, "Patsy" in Crazy for You, and "Malla" in A Little Night Music along with others over her years in Wilmington. She is trained in ballet, jazz, tap, modern, and contemporary dance as well as voice. She also directs, choreographs, and has a great deal of experience with stage management and lighting design. She enjoys working with actors of all ages and loves working with her students at Hoggard High School, where she has taught for 11 years.

theatre for all CAMP
for children & young adults with disabilities
An exciting summer adventure for our students who are able in different ways, as Kim Henry likes to say. This is an extension of our Theatre for All program designed for children who have physical or development challenges. Young performers and their caregivers will love this enriching program.
Instructor Kim Henry has been facilitating multi-media arts projects around the world for the last 20 years. She landed in Wilmington in 2012 where she established her own children’s theater company, Luv2act which has produced 15 unique plays to date. She fuses her love of drama, music, dance, circus skills and spoken word to create original productions that nurture self expression and the gift of each and every performer. Kim also loves her outreach work with Superstar Academy and is excited for some summer fun in this great Theatre!

Co-create a Magical Play In A Week!
Drawing on the strengths of the performers we will co-create a multi-media show that embraces drama, music, circus skills, and dance to be shared on the final day of the camp. Together we will bring to life a magical world where anything is possible and surprises are abundant! New skills will be explored, and existing ones will be nurtured in this week of ultimate creativity and self-expression. Come and join the fun and get your drama on!
