Our Mission

Superstar Academy is the educational outreach component of Theatre Network of Wilmington, Inc.,a registered 501(c)(3) non-profit operating in the community of Wilmington, North Carolina. Our mission is to extend low or no-cost theatre arts education to school age children in our community.

The Benefit of Theatre Arts

Theatre arts help children in their development of self-confidence, inter-personal skills and interpreting the world in which they live. Many of the children in our program find themselves in an environment where bullying, drugs and gangs are real problems.  For some, performing is a simple, joyful experience or a new way to communicate.  Through creative play and improvisation, with guidance and support, our students find their voice and learn to confront life's challenges with perspective.

We Go Where We're Needed

Many of our public schools have had to cut funding to theatre arts, so we go to them.   Superstar Academy classes are taught at local middle schools such as DC Virgo, Williston, Douglass Academy, Laney High School, as well as the Boys and Girls' Community Club.  Our programs as tailored to the specific need of the organization we serve and we look forward to opportunities to develop workshops or showcases, as well.

Thanks to You

Our program is supported mostly by donations by individuals like you.  If you would like to support Superstar Academy, you can become a sponsor, give a child a scholarship to Superstar Academy or a week-long Superstar Academy summer camp.  You can also donate any amount through PayPal.
